Honors Clubs Offering Graduation Cords and Requirements
Mu Alpha Theta (Light Blue & White Cord)
Sponsor: Rebecca Davis
- GPA: 3.0 or higher in Math classes
- Required Service Hours: 6 hours per year
- Required Fee: $25.00 annual dues
- Mu Alpha Theta is an international mathematics honor society for high school and 2-year college students, founded in 1957 to recognize mathematical excellence. Members gain access to scholarships, awards, competitions, and math-related events.
Senior Honor Cord Requirements:
- Be in good academic standing, 3.0 GPA or higher in Math classes
- 6 community service hours
- Be a member in good standing for at least two full academic school years
- Submit all dues, participate consistently in organization activities, and complete all service hours
- Completed the equivalent of two years of college-preparatory mathematics including Algebra and/or Geometry and be enrolled in a third-year math course

National Honor Society (White Stole)
Sponsor: Maggie Fields
- GPA: 3.75 or higher
- Required Service Hours: 10 Hours per year
- Required Fee: $30.00 annual dues
- Demonstrate leadership, school/community involvement, and exemplary character.
- National Honor Society is an organization that recongizes outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
Senior Honor Cord Requirements:
- Be in good academic standing maintaining a 3.75 GPA or higher
- 10 community service hours
- Observe the rules of NHS
- Participate in community service projects
- Cannot miss more than 3 meetings for the year

Science National Honor Society (Green, Purple & Gold Cord)
Sponsor: Carolyn Pendarvis
- GPA: 3.0 overall and 3.5 or higher in all Science classes
- Required Service Hours: 5 hours within the club and 5 hours in the community for a total of 10 hours
- The Science National Honor Society is beneficial to students and schools as it promotes academic excellence, fosters a sense of community, enhances science education, and positively impacts students by providing recognition, networking opportunities, skill development, and avenues for community service
Senior Honor Cord Requirements:
- Be in good academic standing, 3.0 GPA overall and 3.5 or higher in all Science classes
- 10 community service hours: 5 hours withing the club and 5 hours in the community
- Be a member in good standing for at least two full academic school years
- Must take one advanced science course in 11th or 12th grade
- In addition, students successfully completing 2 years of membership before their senior year and completing at least one advanced science, will receive an honor cord and are eligible to apply for a science honor society scholarship.

Tri-M Music Honor Society (Pink Cord)
Sponsor: Maggie Mason
- GPA: 3.5 overall and a 4.0 GPA in Music performance classes
- Required Service Hours: 5 hours each semester for a total of 10 hours
- The Tri-M Music Honor Society is a program of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), which focuses on creating future leaders in music education and music advocacy. Tri-M is the only music honor society for junior/middle school and high school students in United States. Tri-M recognizes students that have gone above and beyond both academically and musically. Tri-M also provides students with leadership opportunities to make a difference in their community through music-based service projects. There are more than 2,100 chapters across 50 states and 15 countries. Tri-M involves more than 84,000 students in grades 6-12. Each year, student members contribute more than 750,000 service hours to their school and local communities and raise nearly $1 million for the causes they care about.
Senior Honor Cord Requirements:
- Be in good academic standing, 3.5 GPA overall and 4.0 in Music performance class
- 10 community service hours, 5 hours required each semester
- Attend all required performances
- Must follow school rules
- No OSS or Alternative School
- Cannot miss more than 3 meetings for the year
- Must attend Night of the Art
